JGS Students receive top conference prizes at the Entomological Society of New Zealand's 2012 Conference

Congratulations to our students who took out all three of the prizes for best student oral presentations at the Entomological Society of New Zealand's 2012 Conference!

  • Ist place: Chrissie Painting
    • "The effect of density on alternative mating tactics in the New Zealand giraffe weevil"
  • 2nd place: Gonzalo Avila Olesen
    • "Dispersal behaviour of the parasitic wasp Cotesia urabae Austin and Allen (Hymenoptera: Braconidae): a recently introduced biocontrol agent to fight the gumleaf skeletoniser Uraba lugens Walker (Lepidoptera: Nolidae) in New Zealand"
  • 3rd place: Shelley Myers
    • "How clasper morphology relates to genetic and behavioural isolation in the New Zealand stick insect genus Clitarchus"

Chrissie Painting was also deservedly awarded the top prize for best overall conference presentation.
