Hymenoptera are an incredibly diverse and economically important order of insects, containing groups such as bees, wasps, ants, and parasitoids. I will introduce some recent research from different groups of Hymenoptera examining: i) threats of invasive social paper wasps; and ii) the importance of taxonomy and natural history collections in ecological research and for understanding New Zealand's fauna.
